In the current scheme of things, while AI and Robotics have become the buzz word, our understanding of these paradigms is extremely superficial. They are narrowed to either driver-less cars or algorithm fueled stock market picks or ease of navigation during our morning commute. For as important these innovations are in our fast-paced daily lives, they pale in comparison to the benefits that robotic technologies will have on human capital as it heralds in a new era in our education system for the future generation particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
It is observed that edutainment help students learn and develop 21st century skills efficiently through these championships/competition formats. Robotics competitions strengthen various abilities and skills - both hard and soft - that are needed in the 21st century like computational thinking, self-directed learning, creative problem solving, time management, teamwork and more. Robotics competitions can have an extraordinary positive impact on students.
Robotics competitions are currently at the forefront of our ever-changing technological world. Competitions bring entertainment, coupled with education (Edutainment) which motivates, and encourage students of all ages to work together. Edutainment delivers required experience to students while learning through gamification and enables them to think intellectually and be innovative. Bengaluru: With an aim to inculcate STEAM learning in the curriculum in India, Makebot – a leading EduTech company focused on creating paradigm shifts in the New Age STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Education system, has launched a first-of-its-kind Indian STEAM Premier League (ISPL) at DIDAC. The competition, is aimed at putting to test the robotics and AI skills of students from around the world.
Makebot, will be conducting several state and regional level competitions, so as to filter out and select the best teams that will represent India at the international arena. These include city specific competitions in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune, followed by a national championship to be held at Mumbai on November 9 2019. Through the competition, students are expected to devise creative solutions to difficult problems, work as a team, learn sportsmanship, communicate effectively and build leadership skills.The finals for MakeX 2019 are scheduled to be held in China, Guangzhou on November 29, 2019.
