Rules & Structure

MakeX Simulation will be conducted in two stages: an online pre-qualification stage and a venue competition stage.

Participating students will first receive training and will then be evaluated through an online MCQ test and two simulation tasks.

Based on their overall performance, participants will be ranked and the top 50% of the total participation will qualify for the venue stage.

Competition Format at a Glance

Stage Format
Training Session Training provided to all participating students
Online MCQ Test 50-mark test based on the training session
Simulation Tasks 2 simulation tasks submitted by participants
Pre-Qualification Evaluation Participants evaluated and ranked based on performance
Venue Eligibility Top 50% of total participation qualify for the venue stage
Venue Competition Simulation tasks judged on working/performance and completion time

A training session will be conducted for all participating students before the evaluation stage. The training session will provide the knowledge and skills required for the online assessment and simulation tasks.

  • All registered participants will be eligible to attend the designated training session.
  • The online MCQ assessment will be based on the content covered during the training session.
  • The simulation tasks will assess the participant's ability to apply the concepts and skills developed during training.

After completion of the training session, an online multiple-choice question (MCQ) test will be conducted.

  • The MCQ test will carry a maximum of 50 marks.
  • Questions will be based on the content and concepts covered during the training session.
  • The score obtained in the MCQ test will form part of the participant's pre-qualification evaluation.
  • The test will be conducted online according to the schedule communicated by the competition organizers.

Participants will be assigned two (2) simulation tasks after the training session. Participants must complete and submit both tasks within the specified submission period.

  • Each participant will receive two simulation tasks.
  • Participants must complete the assigned tasks according to the provided requirements.
  • Both completed simulation tasks must be submitted through the designated submission process.
  • The submitted work will be evaluated based on the competition's defined performance criteria.
  • Submission deadlines and technical requirements will be communicated by the competition organizers.

Participants will be evaluated using their performance in the online MCQ assessment and the two submitted simulation tasks. The resulting evaluation will be used to establish the pre-qualification ranking.

The detailed marks distribution and evaluation criteria for the simulation tasks will be defined and communicated by the competition organizers as part of the official assessment instructions.

Evaluation Component Assessment
Online MCQ Test Maximum 50 marks
Simulation Task 1 Evaluated based on task performance
Simulation Task 2 Evaluated based on task performance
Overall Pre-Qualification Combined evaluation of all three components

After the pre-qualification evaluation is completed, all participants will be ranked according to their overall performance. The top 50% of the total participation will be eligible to participate in the MakeX Simulation competition at the venue.

  • The qualification cutoff will be determined after the final number of participating students is confirmed.
  • Participants ranked within the top 50% will receive eligibility to compete at the venue.
  • The remaining participants will not proceed to the venue competition stage.
  • The final qualification list will be announced by the competition organizers.

Qualified participants will compete at the venue by completing simulation tasks assigned during the competition. Participants will be judged on both the working/performance of their simulation and the time taken to complete the assigned task.

  • Simulation tasks will be provided to qualified participants on the competition day.
  • Participants will be required to complete the assigned task according to the stated requirements.
  • The simulation must demonstrate the required working or functionality to receive the applicable score.
  • Completion time will be recorded by the designated competition officials.
  • Any applicable penalties, deductions, or task-specific conditions will be applied according to the official competition rules.

Venue performance will be evaluated using the official MakeX Simulation scoring criteria. The evaluation will consider successful working of the simulation and completion time.

Evaluation Factor Basis of Evaluation
Working / Functionality Successful completion and correct operation of the assigned simulation task
Completion Time Time taken to successfully complete the assigned task
Penalties / Deductions Any applicable penalties defined in the competition rules

Participants competing at the venue will be ranked based on their performance in the venue competition. The final ranking will determine the winners and runner-ups of the MakeX Simulation competition.

  • Only participants who qualify through the top-50% pre-qualification stage will be included in the venue competition.
  • Venue performance will determine the final competition standings.
  • The competition organizers will verify and finalize all scores and rankings before announcing the results.
